This summer with temperatures hovering around 100° in Southern California, in Mexico our local crew has vigilantly labored weekend after weekend to raise homes for families literally living in the dirt.

In the winter, the rains and cold winds assault their living quarters. In the summer, dusty, hot breezes invade, along with bugs, spiders, mice and occasionally a snake.

Knowing the conditions, and in an effort to provide more families with a better life, our incredible crew raises a home on their own in less than a day. Construction manager, John Zawis has taught them well.

Many a group from the US has worked with a handful of these guys to assist in the more demanding and skilled parts of building a home. They have often enabled groups to ensure the quote for which Project Mercy is well known – “a house in a day”, becomes a reality. This summer they built 10 homes, some from scratch, and a couple by helping US crews International Relief Teams and Dave Mason’s “Wild at Heart” team, fulfil their goals of building a home in just one day.

We are proud of this small group of men and women that labor with Project Mercy year-round, no matter how hot or cold the weather.
They are friends and family. They work hard. They too change lives.
