Reynoso Arreola Family

Guadalupe and Carlos were both born in Tijuana and met when Carlos was working in a nearby brick yard. Carlos is a brickmaker and earns 2,000 pesos per week (about $100US). They have a daughter Cheila and son Gael Arreola. Gael has a two year old daughter, Madison, who already can count to ten.

In Guadalupe’s own words:

“One of our many difficulties is the lack of drainage on our property. We have to keep moving water away from the house. The lack of running water is also a problem because we have to buy it from a passing tanker truck and it is expensive. Our house is not well built and is very fragile. It is not very old, but the walls are made of recycled Styrofoam. Water, smoke and dust get into our house and it is hard to keep clean.”

“My husband suffers from reduced blood flow to his brain and as a result, walks with a cane and has frequent headaches and joint pain. Sometimes he has to stop working because of severe headaches. Having a better house, more than anything, would provide us more security and space for my son to be with my granddaughter.”

“Thank you and God bless all the people who are behind these projects because they provide security, comfort and above all, happiness and hope to families in need around here. I know that your houses last for years because I have an acquaintance who has lived in one for 25 years. We are very appreciative.”

Project Mercy Baja was able to bring the families dream come to life when our Mexican team built them a new home in just one day. The family cooked a wonderful, home cooked lunch of carne, pollo and macaroni salad tostadas and all of the toppings. At the end of the day the family was presented with the keys to their new home to smiles all around.
