Project Mercy Baja has built and operates a school in one of the colonias of east Tijuana. We are pleased to be able to provide more than just school classes. This summer two vans from from the Onnuri church in Los Angeles pulled up to our school. About 18 people spilled out of the vans and immediately unloaded enough dental equipment to transform a large classroom into six dental stations complete with all of the tools necessary for teeth cleaning, cavity repair and more. 30+ community members received free dental services during the day.
It was truly a community event with families from the surrounding area in attendance along with many of our local crew. In addition to the dental services, another classroom was converted into an art center where the children were able to make a variety of art projects from bracelets to signs. On the patio free clothes were distributed and upstairs there were also several massage stations available for acupuncture. Lunch was provided for everyone. And of course, no event worth it’s salt south of the border would be complete without a pinata for all of the children.
