Chula Vista Rotary funded a house for a lucky family in dire need this past weekend. It was scheduled for Saturday January 23 but with a wet weather forecast, the Mexican crew opted to work on Friday to ensure they were not rained out. It was a cool and windy day but they managed to give the Gonzales family a solid home.
The house could not have come at a more opportune time. Gabriela, Elid and their four children were living in a tiny shack which didn’t have room for much more than a bed they all shared. Two of their children have medical issues and paying for medicine as well as the monthly land fees did not leave enough to cover other basic expenses let alone think about building a bigger house. Now thanks to the generosity of Chula Vista Rotary they have space for the children to spread out and have some privacy as they grow up.
Gabriela said ” My children dream of having a good home where they can be safe. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.” You are so very welcome Gabriela, the joy we see in your faces warms OUR hearts.
