Project Mercy Baja has many prospects to help families and children living in extreme poverty in east Tijuana in 2024.
In 2023 Project Mercy Baja built 88 houses for impoverished families in Mexico. We started the New Year with three builds in January 2024 and many more already on our calendar for the months ahead.
The leader of our crew in Mexico, Roberto, has been driving through the hills of east Tijuana identifying and vetting families on our wait-list for a new home. We already have the foundation slabs laid for 12 families and Roberto will be setting the forms for more slabs in the near future. We also provide basic furnishings and food where possible.
Through the construction of classrooms, facilitating the employment of teachers and purchasing school supplies, we are now successfully providing an education for multiple children. These are children who, through circumstances beyond the control of their parents, have not received any basic education. Distance from an educational facility, lack of transport or money for school uniform, a short supply of teachers or just a space in school, these are all sample reasons that children are unable to get an education. In 2024 we plan to expand one existing school and start the construction of another in a different location. The children who are now in our schools are excited and eager to learn. Their enthusiasm touches our hearts.
2024 promises to be a positive year for the Project Mercy Baja programs in east Tijuana.
Thank you all for your interest in our mission to build homes and improve living conditions for impoverished families in eastern Tijuana and for supporting our schools. Please pass the word of our work to friends and colleagues and come to Mexico to join in and make a difference in the lives of our neighbors across the border.
