Our Mexican construction crew is the best. We are truly indebted to them and consider them family.
Recently we organized a picnic at the school in San Nicholas to show our thanks. It was great to see the crew with their families enjoying a feast of hamburgers, hot dogs, various salads, watermelon, drinks and chips. Everything was cooked in the school kitchen and served family style. Smiles abounded and tummies were filled to the maximum. We were also to distribute clothes, shoes and toys during the picnic which are always in need.
The new school basketball hoop was put to good use. Who knew we had the makings of the next Lebron James in our midst!
Later water toys were brought out, and a huge water fight took place. By the end of the fight, everyone was soaking wet which was a wonderful feeling on another hot day!
And of course no fiesta is complete without a pinata for the kids. Nacho operated the rope from the roof with Roberto on the patio trying not to get hit by the wild swings of the children. As it always does, the pinata finally gave in and there was a mad scramble for the candy.
Another good day in Mexico.
Nuestro equipo de construcción mexicano es el mejor. Estamos realmente en deuda con ellos y los consideramos una familia.
Recientemente organizamos un picnic en el colegio de San Nicolás para mostrar nuestro agradecimiento. Fue fantástico ver al equipo con sus familias disfrutando de un festín de hamburguesas, hot dogs, ensaladas variadas, sandía, bebidas y papas fritas. Todo se cocinaba en la cocina de la escuela y se servía al estilo familiar. Las sonrisas abundaban y los estómagos se llenaban al máximo. También repartimos ropa, zapatos y juguetes durante el picnic que siempre hacen falta.
Se aprovechó la nueva canasta de baloncesto de la escuela. ¡Quién diría que teníamos entre nosotros los ingredientes del próximo Lebron James!
Más tarde sacaron juguetes acuáticos y tuvo lugar una gran pelea acuática. Al final de la pelea, todos estaban empapados, ¡lo cual fue una sensación maravillosa en otro día caluroso!
Y por supuesto ninguna fiesta está completa sin una piñata para los niños. Nacho manejaba la cuerda desde el techo con Roberto en el patio tratando de no ser golpeado por los salvajes columpios de los niños. Como siempre ocurre, la piñata finalmente cedió y hubo una loca lucha por los dulces.
