On June 11, 2022 a small team of volunteers traveled to the colonia of Trebol on the outskirts of Tijuana in one of the poorest areas with one purpose. To build a new home, and future, for the Ortiz Luis family of four – Carmen, Saturdino, Suriel and Abdiel. By the end of the day the family’s new home was finished and they were presented with the keys to their new home.
El 11 de junio de 2022 un pequeño equipo viajó a la colonia Trebol en las afueras de Tijuana en una de las zonas más pobres con un solo propósito. Para construir un nuevo hogar y futuro para la familia Ortiz Luis de cuatro: Carmen, Saturndino, Suriel y Abdiel. In Honor Of Sylvia Rufino
Sylvia Rufino, mother of six wonderful children (Nancy, Edwin, Jake, Sammy, Lester, Enid), was the inspiration guiding the team on this build. Sylvia was a key part of the Project Mercy team in Tijuana. The world lost an amazing soul when Sylvia passed due to a deadly tumor, but the heavens gained a new angel and we could all feel her looking down on us from her place of internment in the cemetery on a hill to the west overlooking the build site.
Five of Sylvia’s children, two grandchildren along with a number of other relatives were able to participate in this build in Sylvia’s honor. The Rufino family members were joined by friends and family members from both sides of the US/Mexico border.
Sylvia Rufino, madre de seis hijos maravillosos (Nancy, Edwin, Jake, Sammy, Lester, Enid), fue la inspiración que guió al equipo en esta construcción. Sylvia fue una parte clave del equipo del Proyecto Misericordia en Tijuana.
