Second Special Chula Vista House Build April 24, 2021
Project Mercy is happy to be scheduling another Special Building Event on April 24 in Chula Vista. Some participants took part in the previous one on October 24 and some are going to have their first experience building homes this way. It will be a wonderful experience for all involved and provide solid homes for six families in desperate need in Mexico.
The borders are still officially closed to non-essential traffic and no-one is really certain of the effects of COVID-19 in the eastern Tijuana region where we concentrate our work. For these reasons we are still currently not arranging for US groups to travel into Mexico to build onsite.
Participants in our Special Build will still have the super experience of coming together as a group to change the lives of desperately needy families through our April 24 day of construction., They will be building housing components to be stacked on a flatbed and taken to Tijuana where our Mexican crew will raise the houses. Each group will receive a family bio prior to the build and will be provided with photos of the actual day that their house is raised.
A list of Protocols and other applicable paperwork, including a mandatory Waiver, are listed as well as plans. More documents may be added nearer the date of the event.
Both Executive Director Paula Claussen and Construction Manager John Zawis will be pleased to answer any questions anyone may have.
The build site does not have a street address, please use the following address for Escaya Village Site III located at 1917 Santa Maya, Chula Vista 91915 – the build site is directly across the street from this address in a dirt lot construction site.
Take the 805 to the Main Street exit, go east on Main to Heritage Road, turn left on Heritage and go left up the hill to the traffic lights at the Santa Maya intersection. Santa Maya is on your right and the dirt lot build site is on your left. At the Santa Maya intersection and traffic light, turn left into the build site. Look for a PROJECT MERCY banner at the entrance.
